allow partnership manufactures onto shapeways store platform
Licensing the shapeways store platform to other manufactures (partner agreements so it shouldn't effect the pre-existing 3d printing component of Shapeways as a company?) allows designers to offer a (potentially) greater number of goods/added value via the Shapeways store platform.
By adding further manufacturing processes to the Shapeways stable, designers could produce certain items at a more attractive price point - this could be very helpful for 'sets' feature/functionality, for example producing flat bases for displays, frames and so on via laser etching or providing electrical components for lamps etc.
Implementing this would be almost entirely a commercial/software side solution (i.e. minimal hardware/space outlay) and should vastly strengthen the Store as a delivery platform.

I probably should qualify this. By doing this Shapeways can focus on its two current core products, 3d print manufacturing and the Store as a delivery platform - while giving the widest possible cross-section of goods to consumers.
I kind of envision 'The Store' as something like 'Steam' - but for objects. But at the moment its more like 'Origin' (sorry) a closed single manufacturer platform.
Obviously Shapeways would need to perform some sort of certification process on prospective partners but that could very easily be covered by a fee structure.
