Do not truncate model description
Model description is an important part of the model page. It often contains valuable informations for the buyer, it shouldn't be truncated like a FB comment. If you want to truncate, you should allow designers who don't want it to opt-out.
This issue has sparked a lot of debate within the community, and between us on the team. After plenty of conversation, here’s the solution we came up with:
The “More” button on the product page has been removed. In the future, there will be fields added to further customize this page.
An example of the model page after the recent changes can be seen here:

Instead of the negative comments. Lets tell everyone to vote on this. If it reaches 1000 and shapeways is still unwilling to fix(and I agree it is a bug) then we will have proof of are negative feelings without needing to say them

I know - a 'broken user experience' could be regarded as a bug as well. Still, formally the site's *technical* functionality is not broken, so I've decided to file this as a suggestion for now instead of a bug.
Please understand that I'm not trying to sideline the issue by moving it to Suggestions category - having it here and seeing the number of votes will certainly bring it (once more) to the attention of our product team.
I agree that the current solution is not good enough, so please vote for this issue! It'll increase the pressure on the product team to work on it. [bart]

Where do you draw the line between atrociously bad design decision and a bug? Either way SWs attempt to sideline this issue is appalling.

I'm not going into a discussion about why we built it the way we did here, but your points are now part of the feature suggestion so they'll certainly be evaluated. [bart]

Why do you need to truncate? No other sales web site truncates on the product page. They truncate only on pages that have multiple products/page. Truncating on the sales page is the wrong place to do it and there is nothing in your style sheet that makes it look better truncated anyways.

I know ;-) Still, we designed it to work this way so it's not a bug.
Given the fact that we will only give the text a limited amount of space when you open the page, how would you prefer it to work? Maybe two text input fields, one for the 'intro' text, and one for the 'long' text? [bart]

I understand your action. My choice of the "bug & Problems" category was intentional, though...

I've moved your idea to 'Suggestions: Website' [bart].
