computer generated image not updating
If you update a model the computer generated image is not updating to show the current state of the model.
Having seen an error in a model I uploaded, I corrected it but the image shown to the public is still the one with the error.
I'm sure this used to update.

Silver Glossy at 50%
Is there any way Shapeways can offer Silver Glossy at 50%...? This way the piece can have some gloss and still retain more detail. Is there already a way to request this?

Follow each other
Is it possible to set a " follow " button beside each designer's profile ? Then each of us can choose to follow the favorite designers and receive updates from designers we're following. Same as how we follow each other on twitter.

Specify print orientation
In many products, quality and accuracy can be improved by being able to set in which orientation or direction a model should be printed. I'm proposing that we would optionally be able to specify what the 'z' axis of a print should be; if necessary, I'd be willing to pay a premium for this in de models where this option is chosen.

Add an "Abort printing" button that will be relayed to the model analysis and production departments
Recently when i was trying to order a model i discovered a major flaw in my model that could compromise the printing process desired look.
Despite of this it did make it past the model checkups.Though in order to communicate this problem i would have to contact customer support and they would have to react on it to have the production of a model canceled.
If there would be a "Abort printing" button that would be accompanied by a small text field to input a valid reason.
Situations like sending a abort printing request in the evening while the… more14 votes -
Add patina as a silver finishing option
Currently silver can be ordered as "normal' and "glossy"
I would like to suggest adding a patina finish to it as a third option,
Patina is a black tarnish that forms on silver when it is submerged in certain chemicals. After the tarnish has formed a polishing round will remove most of the tarnish and cause the silver to shine again.
The more secluded parts like seams, dimples or recessed parts will remain dark. This will add a great deal of detail to any product that is printed in sterling silver

Blog: Homepage recognized as Spam
For weeks now I have been unable to add my website into the Homepage field of the Blog. Every time I add my Wordpress blog address I get an error message stating that I am Spamming the site! Remove the address and all is fine again. I have no idea if this only applies to Wordpress addresses but it should be looked into. It has not been a problem in the past (seems that applies to a few current problems that have only just now popped up).

Hi Glenn, we’re currently in the middle of a rather large update of our blog after which this should not be an issue anymore. I’m leaving this issue open though and we’ll re-test when we’re ready with the upgrade. [bart]

Photo of comleted order
Suggested Feature:
A photo for each recently printed model in an order displaying it on a table with a (cm or in) measurement grid to illustrate how it looks before it is shipped. It would be displayed next to each product on the orders page. This would give users a chance to establish that the product is roughly to the scale they anticipated when they ordered it as well as to simply enjoy the anticipation of seeing the product asap. Currently all there is a message stating that it is " in production"

Find me on twitter, facebook, pinterest etc.
There should be a place on shop page where shop owner's social network like Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest account can be found and followed.

Buy failed print for half price
Wouldn't it be a good idea to give people the option to buy their failed prints at a serious discount? Things that broke during finishing or shifted during printing. They could still be useful to users for many reasons (spare parts, test objects, personal archive, learning from mistakes) and it could mean some salvaged revenue for shapeways.
you could choose to either
A: get the coupon and not receive the part
B: Get a coupon for half the price minus shipping and get the failed part sent to you
C:Remodel & re-order the part, and have the failed part included… more4 votes -
More order status details
When you look under "My orders", you can see the overall status (e.g.in production) and UP tracking number, a pdf invoice and an online display of the order with basically the same information as the pdf.
I would like to be able to see more details of the status, especially whether any items have been rejected, are delayed, etc. and also the ID-number of any vouchers generated. I know that I get them via E-mail, but can be rather tedious keeping track of them in a heap other E-mails in youtr inbox.
The information must be somewhere in your system,… more

Increase allowed dimensions for WSF polished material
Recently I created a model which I wanted in white, strong and flexible (polished). It turns out this option is not available to me as its 1.2cm too large. Because I cannot scale down the model for reasons being that the model is designed to be a specific dimension I found this to be disappointing.
It would be great if you increase the accepted dimensions from 15x15x15cm to something a little larger.

Cheaper postage needed
The UPS rates prevent a lot of overseas customers from buying items. Please come up with a way to allow customers to choose different postage rates.

Hi all,
just to let you know that this issue IS on our radar and we’re discussing how to resolve this. It’s not a simple problem to solve however (we’d have to start supporting multiple shipping companies and also figure out which shipper works best for each specific country).
Wel’ll keep you informed.

Originally uploaded date
I think the " originally uploaded date " should be shown for each model. In case someone claims copyright issues, this date can be a good proof of who's the first to come up with the design.

Offer more metal options
An alternative metal option to stainless steel or sterling silver that has high detail and smooth, high-gloss finish that is on par with sterling silver . Options that come to mind are true aluminum (not alumide) , steel or bronze. This would be an option i'm sure many people would take advantage of and it's success would probably exceed FUD's initial introduction response.

static image
As I'm promoting my items among social networks, I found that many of the sites are showing static images, which provides great image quality. In comparison, the same images on shapeways model detail page are blur and with wrinkles, as they are shown in dynamic means.
I would suggest showing static images instead of dynamic, which may provide better image quality.

define "wall" and "detail"
As a newbe it was not clear to me what constitutes a "wall" and what constitutes a "detail". I believe the former is "out of" the surface and the latter is "into" the surface but I'm still not sure. A quick footnote or link on the material specs to define "wall" and "detail" would be helpful.
